Letter from the MANAGING and Artistic Director

ALANA JOOS – Managing & Artistic Director

Dear Patrons, Friends and Associates:

Temecula Valley Symphony is pleased to present our 23rd Concert Season with a terrific line-up of concerts for 2017-2018! We are very excited to present a colorful palette of concert programs that offer our listeners a variety of musical styles.

If you are not already on our mailing list please be sure to send us an email and request our beautiful season brochure which lists all of our season concerts. It also includes information about the Symphony Chorus and their two stand-alone concerts. We encourage you to consider purchasing Season Tickets, even if you are not able to attend every performance. Tickets make great gifts and you can share your love of music with family and friends by giving them tickets you cannot use or by purchasing extras. Our prices remain extremely competitive, making our concerts very accessible to all.

Ticket prices are listed here on the website. Please note that we now offer two different kinds of Season Tickets. Silver Season Tickets provide you with 6 Symphony concerts. Gold Season Tickets include the 6 Symphony concerts, plus the 2 Chorus concerts. By purchasing Season Tickets you help support the Symphony and Chorus, and you will also receive some additional benefits that are explained in the ticketing section. Tickets may be ordered via mail, by phone, or online through the website’s ticketing link.

We are happy to announce that John Mario is returning for his fourth season as our Music Director and Conductor and violinist Zun-Hin Woo also returns as the Symphony’s Concertmaster and Associate Conductor. Each year we focus on providing you with a wide range of musical selections and varied programming that will appeal to our diverse audience. This season we are including some dynamic classical works, Broadway selections, large choral and orchestral works, jazz, big band, symphonic pops, patriotic favorites and movie themes. We will be featuring various soloists and vocalists, and our new Symphony Chorus throughout the season as well as the Winner of the 2018 Young Artist Competition.

Name Change

As many of you already know, two years ago we voted to change the name of Inland Valley Symphony to Temecula Valley Symphony.

Temecula Valley Symphony Chorus

The Symphony Chorus is now in its third season as part of the Symphony’s music family. Eric Rea, Conductor and Artistic Director, leads this exciting group consisting of singers from throughout the region who have auditioned for the opportunity to be in the Chorus. Performing challenging literature, the 60-voice chorus will present two of their own concerts this season in addition to performing with the Symphony in September and May.

Temecula Valley Youth Symphony

Our Youth Symphony program is now in its 10th season and provides an opportunity for young musicians to perform together in an orchestral environment. In addition to four concerts per year the musicians also prepare solos and ensemble pieces to perform. Community concerts have also been programmed for this season along with special educational excursions. We offer three levels of musical study: Youth Symphony (Zun-Hin Woo Conductor), the Junior Youth Symphony (Scott Merrin, Conductor), Prelude Beginning Strings (Elizabeth Monacelli, Instructor), and Prelude Cellos (Gina Wingfield, Instructor).

Membership in the Temecula Valley Symphony, Symphony Chorus and our Youth Symphony programs are by audition only. Please contact us if you are interested in performing with one of our groups or know someone to recommend.

Donations and Sponsorships

Temecula Valley Symphony is growing and is very excited to re-brand itself as the Temecula Valley continues to become a preferred arts and cultural destination. I, along with our Board of Directors, have been very busy making plans for more growth in the future that focuses on furthering the quality of the music and entertainment services we offer to the community. We hope you will consider making a generous donation to help us fulfill our vision and continue to provide exciting programming! Please call me to discuss ways in which your financial contribution can be applied and recognized. We look forward to seeing you soon at one or all of our performances!
